Visual Puns brought to life via SUPER Collaboration!

Cardinal artists shared their creativity with a Visual Pun Ink painting assignment.
Students randomly picked names of real fish or birds and invisioned what charactaristics that animal might show to deserve the unusal names.
Many of the names were found through an Incredible Art Department Resource lesson by Don Stewart, Artist. I was thrilled to have made his aquaintance and purchase one of his images years ago and discussed with him what a fun my students would have creating their own visual puns! Here are a few of the names we used as inspiration:

Students were inspired by Don Stewart's art work and set out to create their own imaginative creatures!
Our Visual puns are all online in our Artsonia Gallery and I know the students would love to know what you think of the new animals!

A quick response with a link to our artsonia gallery of visual puns has thrilled my students and brought life to their artwork. The collaboration between Ian Sands' students at Apex High was pricessless. My twitter PLN #ArtEd group has been a valuable source of inspiration, learning, friendship, and collaboration. I am thankful for all the art educators and their willingness to share their passion and knowledge openly for the better of all our students!
