AOur art room is full of color and ready for a great year ahead! I have tried to add splashes of color around the room to give us a fresh start to the year. One of my biggest jobs was painting the old stools with a fresh coat of paint. The stools had previously been painted on the seat with famous paintings yet had been warn away to be unrecognizable in many spots. Painting the stools in groups of four I have created visual ways to denote different table groups. Beyond the stools I have also added visual color above the tables with our artist inspired paint cans. Each can has an Artist label and color tissue pouring out to the table below. Around the room I have quotes from artist's and several drawn portraits representing different artists like Warhol, Kahlo and others. Our storage closet had a multiple week makeover and is now very organized and makes finding materials for class a breeze. Around the room there are little touches that give our Art lair personality! I am a fan of Doctor Who so my office door was turned into an "Art Box" Tardis. Yes, its bigger on the inside! I have plans for the Art Box later in the year! (teaser) Pinterest has served as inspiration with my new Thinker poster. I saw the T.H.I.N.K. posters and added the art reference with the Thinker statue. It is a nice visual to remind kids to "think" before they speak and keep art critiques in a helpful tone. Here is to a colorful year at Space Center Intermediate!
