After the branches were created we are going back into our painting with watercolor techniques to add the bright fall colors.
Multiple watercolor techniques were demonstrated:
*wet on wet application
*splattering of primary colors
*spraying with water to blend
*plastic wrap to create texture
Once the watercolor paint has dried students were asked to outline the contour of the shapes formed in the paint. Slight variances in color and value can be outlined to help create the leaf groupings and shapes in the trees.
A simple painting project with lovely results highlights a variety of painting techniques and helps students to understand organic shapes and recognizing different values.
We are starting to upload the finished fall foliage images to our Artsonia gallery. The Cardinal artists' hope you enjoy the paintings as much as we enjoyed making them!
